RV7 Rudder Workshop DVD by HomebuiltHelp.

While my tail kit arrives, I decided to spend my time educating myself about the basics of construction, tools needed, how to use these tools, and most importantly the tail kit itself. For that purpose, I ordered the RV7 Rudder Workshop DVD and the Preview Plans for RV7 from Van's.

When the Preview Plans arrive I will get a bird's-eye view of the entire project and also some specific details that might help me in my planning and using this time before the kit comes. As for now, the DVD arrived and I managed to watch it.

The DVD started off by talking about basic tools needed, their usage, aluminum sheet metal types, rivets, riveting, back-riveting, dimpling and countersinking, and rivet removal. These were not just talked about in technical detail but were demonstrated step by step.

After that, the actual RV7 Rudder was built and shown in steps. This really helped me grasp what was coming. I had a lingering sense of being lost in complexities. The DVD demo of the rudder assembly has cleared most of it and now I can at least know what to expect and where to begin.
